Male survives shooting on Corby Avenue in southwest Santa Rosa

A male sitting in a car in southwest Santa Rosa was shot several times Monday afternoon but is expected to survive, police said.

Investigators believe the victim was targeted but declined to reveal a motive for the 3:02 p.m. shooting in the 2300 block of Corby Avenue, police said.

The victim was sitting in the driver’s seat of a burgundy hatchback when an unknown number of people began shooting at him. He was struck several times and was transported to a local hospital, where he was in critical condition, police said.

The victim’s wounds are not considered life-threatening, according to a police statement. Police withheld the victim’s name, citing the violent nature of the crime and the ongoing investigation.

A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the shooter. Police asked witnesses or others with information about the incident to call the gang crimes team at 707-543-3670. Anonymous messages about gang activity can be left at 707-543-4264, police said.
