Bike giveaway in Sonoma for fire victims

At least 700 bikes will be available Sunday in Sonoma to give away to fire victims.|

October fire victims who lost bicycles have a chance for a new one Sunday at a giveaway in Sonoma of some 700 bikes sponsored by businesses and firefighting agencies.

The 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. event will be at 21481 Eighth St.

The group gave away about 550 bikes two weeks ago in Santa Rosa, said Mike Coleman, a firefighting engineer for Southern Marin fire district who helped organize the event.

Go to the Southern Marin Fire Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/southernmarinfire/posts/1482425195127662 to print out a brief form for the event. Proof of address must be presented on-site.

As well as bikes for children and adults, helmets and water bottles will be given.

Participating agencies include Sonoma Valley Fire, Cal Fire, Mill Valley and Southern Marin Fire, as well as numerous businesses.
