Wrong‑way driver causes head‑on Lake County crash
A driver Monday headed north in a southbound lane of Highway 29 in Lake County crashed head-on into an oncoming car, sending both drivers by helicopter to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, according to the CHP.
About 5:30 p.m. Bonnie Adams, 73, of Plumas Lake near Yuba City was driving the wrong way on the two‑lane highway near the Nice‑Lucerne cutoff north of Lakeport when her 2010 Honda Odyssey crashed into a 2007 Honda Accord driven by Roen Adams, 20, of Oakland.
The two women were flown to the Santa Rosa hospital. Tuesday, Bonnie Adams was in critical condition and Roen Adams was in fair condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
The crash remained under investigation Tuesday but preliminarily it appeared Bonnie Adams was confused about the lanes. Drugs and alcohol weren’t suspected as factors, the CHP said.
