Lake County detectives find problem pot grow at home of couple arrested twice in Nebraska

A Lake County couple twice arrested in Nebraska on suspicion of marijuana-related offenses face additional charges after Sheriff’s detectives searching the couple’s Clearlake Oaks property found large amounts of processed pot and a grow site encroaching on federal land.

While executing a search warrant Tuesday at the property of Patrick Jiron, 80, and his wife Barbara Jiron, 70, narcotics detectives located a 75-plant harvested grow site and 160 pounds of loose and packaged processed marijuana, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The grow site intruded on property owned by the federal Bureau of Land Management.

Detectives believe the Jirons are traveling back to California after posting bail in Nebraska in an incident this week where they were allegedly found with $18,000 in cash, raw marijuana and evidence of sales. Last month they were found with 60 pounds of marijuana the couple said was Christmas gifts.

The couple now faces multiple violations of California law related to marijuana cultivation and transportation, the Sheriff’s Office said. The investigation was forwarded to the Lake County District Attorney’s Office.
