The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office identified the man killed in a motorcycle accident Saturday night as Thomas Donald Rienecker, 63, of Sonoma.

Rienecker was riding west on Highway 12 near Sprecht Road when a 2006 Toyota Highlander, going in the opposite direction, made a left turn in front of him. The driver, Lauren Simpson-Gomez, 20, of Sonoma did not yield to Rienecker, CHP officials said.

The impact threw Rienecker from his bike, a 1981 BMW. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

His passing is mourned by friends and acquaintances on his Facebook page, where he lists his previous work as a stagehand, camera operator mechanic, machinist and computer operator. Several photos on his Facebook page show Rienecker racing motorcycles and fixing bikes.
