An accident Tuesday on Highway 101 near Hearn Avenue backed up morning traffic for miles in the southbound lanes, the CHP said.

Driver William Joseph Manley, 41 of Hayward, came up on slowed traffic in the southbound lanes at about 11 a.m.

Manley, driving a 2003 GMC pickup, made an unsafe lane change in front of another driver, CHP Officer Barbara Upham said.

Driver Deborah Woolley, 55, of Glen Ellen swerved to avoid a collision and hit the center median wall. Her 2000 Mercury Mystic overturned, and she was trapped, Upham said.

Emergency crews had to cut her free, which took about 30 minutes. She was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, reportedly with minor injuries.

Traffic was funneled to one lane and backed up in the southbound lanes to about River Road. All three lanes were reported open before noon.
