An 18-year-old Healdsburg man was arrested early Wednesday morning on suspicion of transporting drugs and possessing an illegal assault weapon following a high-speed chase on Highway 101.

Fabian Anthony Flores-Gonzalez was speeding north on Highway 101 in a Dodge Avenger when police pulled him over at about 12:22 a.m. at the Dry Creek Road offramp, officials said. After initially yielding, Flores-Gonzalez drove away and back onto the freeway.

The young man led officers on a chase that reached speeds of up to 90 mph, police said. When Flores-Gonzalez reached a construction zone near Geyserville, he stopped and fled on foot.

Police chased after him and took him into custody after a brief struggle. Officers said they found a short-barreled assault rifle and a concealed handgun. Several pounds of marijuana, psilocybin and cash were located in the car he was driving, police said.

Flores-Gonzalez was booked into Sonoma County Jail.
