Mountain lion spotted in Sebastopol
A mountain lion was spotted Friday morning in a backyard of a Sebastopol residence before quickly fleeing, authorities said.
A resident who lives on Dutton Avenue spotted the animal about 6 a.m., before it climbed over a fence toward Florence Avenue, police said.
Officers could not locate the animal while searching the area. Police contacted the state Department of Fish and Wildlife during the search.
Police ask residents not to confront a mountain lion, but rather immediately notify local police or the Sheriff's Office. Last week, a bear was spotted in Sebastopol by two residents.
