Lake County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of a man after his remains were found Sunday in a creek near Clearlake.

A kayaker paddling about a half-mile from the Cache Creek Dam spotted the body about 2 p.m. The body was in the water, likely caught on something submerged, sSheriff’s Lt. Corey Paulich said.

An autopsy was scheduled for later this week. The man’s identity remained unknown Monday and no missing persons reports currently on file matched the man’s description, Paulich said.

The Cache Creek dam is southeast of Clearlake. The 87-mile creek runs through Lake, Yolo and Colusa counties.
