A Petaluma motorcycle rider was killed Monday afternoon after crossing into the path of an oncoming SUV on Tomales-Petaluma Road, the CHP said Tuesday.

Martin Rodriguez-Signor, 23, was speeding in his recently purchased 2019 Triumph Speed Triple sport motorcycle when it crossed into the opposite lane at 3:33 p.m. near Twin Bridge Road in Chileno Valley, CHP said. The bike hit the right side of the oncoming 2018 Toyota Highlander, which was going about 50 mph.

The impact threw Rodriguez-Signor onto the shoulder, and he later was declared dead at the scene.

SUV driver Jack Ramey, 62, of Dillon Beach, wasn’t injured, CHP said.
