Rincon Valley grass fire burned 1/4 acre

A grass fire on Saturday evening burned a 1/4 acre off Rincon Avenue.|

A person mowing a field sparked a grass fire Saturday evening in Rincon Valley.

When the Santa Rosa Fire Department and the Rincon Valley Fire Protection District responded at 6:37 p.m., they found a quarter acre of grass on fire on Rincon Avenue. Firefighters used hose lines and extinguished the blaze within 15 minutes.

No structures were threatened by the fire, and there were no evacuations.

The city of Santa Rosa asks property owners do their part in reducing fire risk, cutting weeds and grasses early in the morning when temperatures are lower and humidity levels are higher.
