A Santa Rosa man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of peeping in a women’s restroom at Santa Rosa Junior College.

Campus police received a call at 5:33 p.m. about a man inside the women’s bathroom at Maggini Hall. A female staff member told officers a man hiding in an adjacent stall looked under the partition as she used the bathroom and then fled, the SRJC police department said in a statement. The man later was identified as Ian Mumbi, 19.

Officers within minutes found Mumbi, who matched the description provided by the woman, sitting in a 1990 Honda sedan parked in a campus lot west of Maggini Hall, Chief Robert Brownlee said. He declined to say if Mumbi was a student, citing privacy laws.

Mumbi, however, will be barred from all SRJC properties for two weeks because he “disturbed the orderly flow and operation of campus,” police said.

Brownlee encouraged any other potential victims to call his department at 707-527-1000.
