A Windsor man convicted of his eighth driving under the influence charge was sentenced Monday to six years in prison.
Pablo Servin Sanchez's latest violation was Oct. 3, when he backed his pickup across Old Redwood Highway in Healdsburg at 11 a.m., nearly causing a crash with a big-rig, District Attorney Jill Ravitch said in a statement.
His blood alcohol content was found in two tests to be .31 percent and then .33 percent. The legal limit is .08 percent.
"Too many people are injured in our community by DUIdrivers," Ravitch said in her statement. "Mr. Sanchez has repeatedly chosen to ignore that risk."
Sanchez, 50, had four previous felony DUIs on his record. His eight convictions stretch over 20 years, Ravitch said. He was also driving on a suspended license when last arrested.
The six year prison term Superior Court Judge Shelly Averill imposed was the maximum possible. Sanchez's driving privileges are to be revoked for 10 years when he leaves prison.
