A 27-year-old man suspected of hitting a woman in the head with a wine bottle and threatening to stab others was arrested Tuesday, Rohnert Park police said.

Randy Solares, who was arrested when he showed up for an appointment with his probation officer, attacked the woman with the bottle while she was walking on the Copeland Creek Trail near the Santa Alicia footbridge midnight Sunday, police said. Solares was attempting to take her pursue, police said.

A witness called 911 but officers were unable to find Solares, who was on a bicycle.

About 90 minutes later, police received a report about a man on a bike with a pipe and knife attempting to assault another man at Santa Alicia Park. Police said Solares threatened to stab a woman as she called 911 before he fled.

At 4 a.m., police got a call from an East Cotati Avenue Taco Bell employee who said a homeless man on a bike walked into the restaurant and stole her pursue. A distinct description, including tattooed dots on his left cheek, helped police connect the crimes to Solares, who was on probation for a weapons conviction, police said.

After his arrest officers found items from multiple thefts in his belongings at a Petaluma homeless shelter where he’d been staying, police said.

Solares is being held in Sonoma County Jail without bail.
