36-acre fire burning southwest of Lakeport

A helicopter and Cal Fire ground crews were battling a 36-acre blaze Sunday night near Highway 175 southwest of Lakeport.

The fire, first reported about 2 p.m. near Ridge Road, triggered a rapid response from Cal Fire and was spreading at a moderate rate in the afternoon.

A Cal Fire official said 250 firefighters were engaged with the blaze and had it 15 percent contained at 7 p.m.
