The accident happened at 4:15 a.m. in the area of Sonoma Mountain and Bennett Valley roads. Jason Herman, 25, of Rohnert Park, lost control of the motorcycle when his helmet fogged up as he was making a turn, CHP said.

Herman and his passenger, Samantha Jenlo, 20, of Santa Rosa, were thrown from the motorcycle and landed in an embankment, CHP said. The two were taken by ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries.

Drugs and alcohol are not being considered a factor in the collision, CHP said.
