Press Democrat reporters Martin Espinoza and Julie Johnson shared their experiences covering the deadly October firestorm at a event in San Francisco hosted by KQED's The Bay and WNYC's Snap Judgment on Saturday.

The pair talked about what it was like the first few hours covering the fires.

"It was just overwhelming. It was emotional," said Espinoza who shot a Facebook Live video the first few hours of the fires that was viewed more than 479,000 times.

Johnson shared her reporting detailing residents' evacuation ordeals, including the story of a woman who helped her wheelchair-bound husband evacuate from their hillside home as fire roared around them.

They also talked about what it's been like as the community rebuilds.
