Memorial set for Helen Rudee, former Sonoma County supervisor, on Oct. 27

The life of Sonoma County’s first woman on the Board of Supervisors will be celebrated next month.|

A memorial celebration of the life of Helen Rudee is set for 2 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Daniels Chapel of the Roses funeral home in Santa Rosa.

Rudee served on the Santa Rosa Board of Education before winning in 1976 a seat on the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. She was the first woman on the board and she served 12 years, retiring in 1988.

A native of North Dakota who settled in Santa Rosa in 1957, Rudee turned 100 years old last February. She died Sept. 19.
