A suspected DUI driver early Tuesday crashed into a Fort Bragg house and was flown to a Santa Rosa hospital with serious head injuries, according to the CHP.

The 12:43 a.m. Tuesday crash happened northeast Fort Bragg as Carl Audo, 33, drove on Pudding Creek Road. On a curve he apparently lost control, left the roadway and traveled onto private property on Country Road where he crashed into the corner of a home, according to CHP Officer Olegario Marin.

The driver then left the damaged vehicle and was found at his nearby residence by emergency personnel. He had a major head wound and was taken to Mendocino Coast Hospital in Fort Bragg. Due to the extent of Audo’s injuries he then was flown by helicopter to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

Officers arrested him on suspicion of impaired driving but released him to medical personnel, Marin said.
