The artist who created the 800-pound hammer sculpture police say was stolen over the weekend from the Healdsburg Community Center is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to its recovery.
The massive sculpture disappeared sometime Friday night or Saturday from the front lawn of the community center. As of Thursday there are no leads or suspects, according to city spokeswoman Rhea Borja.
Healdsburg resident Doug Unkrey created the artwork last year out of mixed metals, including steel, with the handle made from part of a redwood tree. It is 21 feet long and the metal head is 6 feet tall.
