$1,000 reward offered for recovery of 800-pound hammer sculpture stolen from Healdsburg

The artist behind the huge sculpture that disappeared from Healdsburg's community center over the weekend is offering money for information leading to its recovery.|

The artist of an 800-pound hammer sculpture stolen last week from the Healdsburg Community Center is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to its recovery.

The massive sculpture disappeared sometime Friday night or Saturday from the front lawn of the community center. As of Thursday there are no leads or suspects, city spokeswoman Rhea Borja said.

Healdsburg artist Doug Unkrey made the sculpture last year out of mixed metals, including steel, with the handle made from part of a redwood tree. It is 21 feet long and the metal head is 6 feet tall.
