Willits man dies in ATV crash

The cause of the Thursday night crash is still under investigation.|

A Willits man driving an ATV died Thursday evening in a crash in Mendocino County between Leggett and Laytonville, the CHP said.

The man, who was about 30 years old, was driving a Yamaha Quad west on Spyrock Road near Yellow Star Road around ?5:30 p.m. Near a curb, he went into the eastbound lane and crashed into a Toyota 4Runner driven by a 39-year-old Laytonville woman, said CHP Officer Jason Taylor.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and a toxicology report will be conducted, Taylor said.

The man’s name was withheld Friday morning, pending notification of family.
