We know that many of you who read the print newspaper every morning also go to the website to get daily updates throughout the day. We know that you like to share stories with your friends through email or

social media. We also know that more and more of you read our stories on your smartphone, and that many of you

subscribe to our newsletters and our breaking news alerts.

During the North Bay fires a year ago, our site reached record traffic. Some of the most popular items were the interactive fire maps showing the spread of the fires. Based on our learning from the fires, and from our day-to-day coverage, we have now launched a new homepage design and section front design for desktop, tablet and smartphone to even better serve our readers.

With this modernized design, we'll be able to better and faster showcase more of our stories, photos and videos our staff produces. The new design helps us with adding deeper content, more interactives and more videos to provide a richer, more engaging experience. It also makes us more nimble in changing and adjusting the homepage to breaking news, and we hope that this new version will encourage you to scroll farther down the page to see more of our local coverage.

On the section fronts, such as News, Lifestyle and more, we now offer you a much longer feed of recent stories in each category, which we know is something our readers have asked for.
