Police: Santa Rosa man shot dead in argument, 18-year-old arrested
A Santa Rosa man was arrested on suspicion of murder Wednesday, police said.
The shooting in east Santa Rosa was reported at 8:47 a.m. when Troy Henry called police and said he’d shot someone, Santa Rosa police Sgt. Brandon Matthies said in a news release.
Matthies said police officers who rushed to the apartment complex in the 800 block of Yulupa Avenue found Henry, 18, at the scene of the shooting. He was “unarmed, cooperative and taken into custody” in front of the building, Matthies said.
The victim of the shooting, a 34-year-old man whose identity is being withheld until his next of kin are notified, was found in an apartment suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Matthies said. He was transported to a hospital where he later died.
According to detectives, Henry lives at the apartment with another resident, whom the victim had been visiting, Matthies said.
At about 8: 30 a.m., Henry and the victim got into an argument that turned physical and Henry shot the victim with a handgun that had been converted into a fully automatic machine gun, Matthies said.
Henry was arrested on suspicion of murder; discharging a firearm causing death; and possession of a machine gun, Matthies said.
The investigation is continuing, the sergeant added.
