Santa Clara police have been notified about the discovery of a man's body as their investigation into the disappearance of a 49ers fan last week continues.

Authorities said fishermen discovered the body Saturday afternoon. Divers with the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office recovered the body from the waters near the Alviso Marina Boat Launch area in San Jose on Saturday, according to a report from KGO-TV, this news organization's media partner.

While San Jose police have jurisdiction over the Alviso area, they notified Santa Clara authorities, who are still investigating the disappearance of 32-year-old Ian Powers, a Washington man who has been missing since last Monday.

He was with his girlfriend attending a 49ers game at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara on Nov. 12. His girlfriend told police he left his seat to use the restroom during the fourth quarter and never returned.

Powers' vehicle was found where he parked it near the stadium. There were no signs of foul play.

Santa Clara police on Thursday released surveillance video showing Powers leaving Levi's Stadium, walking on a footbridge among many other fans.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner/Coroner's Office confirmed Sunday morning it has taken custody of the body that was found near Alviso, and will work to identify the person.

Police said Powers was last seen wearing a red 49ers T-shirt, red 49ers hat and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about Powers' whereabouts is asked to contact Santa Clara police at 408-615-5580.
