Santa Rosa police are investigating a Wednesday night robbery in which a victim was assaulted at gunpoint by multiple assailants during a scuffle on McBride Lane near West Steele Lane and Coddingtown Mall.

Few details of the 7 p.m. incident were released and police said in a statement the victim’s description of the suspects was vague.

Authorities described responding to the area because of a report of a male subject “who appeared to be in distress.” When he was located, the officers learned he had been assaulted by several suspects, including one who pointed a gun at him while others struck him in the face with unknown objects, police said.

The man was able to run away but left behind unidentified personal objects, some of which were then stolen, police said. Police have not released the victim’s name. His injuries did not require medical treatment, authorities said. Santa Rosa violent crimes detectives are investigating the case.
