A Monte Rio man died in a car crash on Mark West Springs Road and his

companion is in Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of drunken driving and

manslaughter, said California Highway Patrol officials Monday.

Barry Fischer, 45, died in the 10:10 p.m. crash Sunday on the narrow, rural

road east of Santa Rosa.

Driver Rigoberto Robles Jr., 40, also of Monte Rio, was arrested, said CHP

officer Wayne Ziese.

Robles was driving east on Mark West Springs Road when he lost control of

his car near Redwood Hill Road and overturned, said Ziese.

Robles, who was treated for minor injuries, was wearing a seat belt.

Fischer was not wearing one, said Ziese.

Robles is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
