Santa Rosa police chased a stolen car suspect Tuesday from Santa Rosa to Rohnert Park in a pursuit that included the suspect driving into a patrol vehicle, according to police. The suspect has been identified as Kevin Alejandro Angulo-Carbajal, who was already wanted by police for parole violations.

No arrest was reported Tuesday.

The vehicle Angulo-Carbajal was driving, a 2019 black Chevrolet Impala, was reported stolen Tuesday after an acquaintance of Carbajal’s lent it to him and he didn’t return it, according to Santa Rosa police Sgt. Josh Ludtke. Officers located the vehicle around 8:45 a.m. at a 711 on Santa Rosa Avenue.

“When the officer approached the vehicle, (Angulo-Carbajal) backed up towards the officer. The officer was able to get out of the way, but he hit his vehicle,” Ludtke said. Angulo-Carbajal fled the scene and police gave chase, he said.

The pursuit headed down Petaluma Hill Road at speeds up to 80 mph before it turned into the city of Rohnert Park.

After Santa Rosa officers called off the chase in the city due to the unsafe speeds, the man got away.

The patrol vehicle wasn’t badly damaged and the officer wasn’t hurt. Angulo-Carbajal hit two other vehicles while fleeing, but did not cause any injuries, Ludtke said.

Santa Rosa officers initially were joined by Sonoma County sheriff’s deputies, who backed off once the pursuit turned into city streets.

Angulo-Carbajal was in prison for burglary before being released on parole, Ludtke said, but he violated his parole and a warrant was issued for him before the vehicle was reported stolen.

He is wanted on charges of violating parole, assaulting an officer, evading police in a vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Anyone with information on Angulo-Carbajal’s whereabouts are encouraged to call SRPD’s Violent Crimes Investigation Team at (707) 543-3590 or the police non-emergency number at 707-528-5222.

Callers’ identities will be kept confidential, and the Sonoma County Alliance is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to his arrest.
