2 injured when small plane crashes into American River

SACRAMENTO - Two people were injured when a small plane they were in crashed into the American River in Northern California.

The Sacramento Bee reports the two-seat plane crashed Wednesday near Discovery Park, where the American and Sacramento rivers meet about three miles north of the state Capitol. Sacramento Fire Department Capt. Keith Wade says he does not know how the plane crashed.

He says a man and a woman were taken to a local hospital. He says the woman was in critical condition but the man was able to move and seek help.
