Sonoma deputies arrested Monday a man suspected of assaulting another man at a city park.

Seamus Glennon, 40, of Sonoma, led deputies on a brief foot chase through the downtown area before being arrested a few blocks away on West Napa Street near Fifth Street West, Sonoma police said.

The assault occurred at Depot Park on First Street West, just north of the historic Sonoma Plaza. A man called for help at 1 p.m., saying he’d been punched and kicked by the suspect, police said in a news release.

The victim, who wasn’t identified, was taken by ambulance to Sonoma Valley Hospital and treated for face and hand injuries.

Glennon was booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest. Bail was set at $30,000.
