A dead man was found in a Healdsburg creek Monday morning after a passerby noticed his body in the water and phoned authorities.

The discovery was reported to the Healdsburg Police Department about 10:35 a.m. Officers found the body in Foss Creek near the 800 block of Healdsburg Avenue, police Sgt. Luis Rodriguez said.

Investigators have ruled out any foul play in the man’s death, though a pending autopsy by the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office may shed more light into how the man died, Rodriguez said.

As of Monday afternoon, authorities did not know how long the body had been in the water or how it ended up there, Rodriguez said. The man was found with no identification, he said.

A nearby trail, the Foss Creek Pathway, runs along the waterway.
