Substitute teacher arrested on suspicion of inappropriately touching girls at Santa Rosa elementary school

A substitute teacher at Jack London Elementary School was arrested Monday on suspicion of inappropriately touching at least two girls over their clothing last week, Santa Rosa police said.

Thomas Joseph Weber, 69, of Santa Rosa was arrested at the Police Department following an investigation conducted over the weekend, police said in a press release.

The investigation was triggered Friday afternoon by information from school faculty, police said. Staff gave police information provided by students along with an account of the suspect’s activities during the day.

School officials sent Weber home after they became aware of the allegations, police said. Detectives conducted numerous interviews over the weekend and concluded Weber had inappropriately touched at least two middle school-aged female students on Thursday.

Weber was arrested on suspicion of two counts of lewd acts on a child and booked into the Sonoma County Jail.

Jack London is a kindergarten to sixth-grade school in the Piner-Olivet Union School District.
