A new storm began drenching the region Monday morning, in the middle of a very wet winter.

The storm ramped up in the afternoon, bringing more than 10 inches to the Cazadero hills, more than 3 inches to Santa Rosa and up to 5 inches of rain to other areas.

How has recent rainfall affected the local reservoir levels?

This winter — for the first time since the Coyote Valley Dam was built in 1958, creating Lake Mendocino near Ukiah — officials at Sonoma Water can hold more than 68,400 acre feet (22 billion gallons) of water for future use by fish, farmers and residents.
