A construction worker killed after he was accidentally run over by a forklift in Rohnert Park was identified Thursday by the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office.

Francisco Torres, 19, of Olivehurst, was unconscious and not breathing when police officers arrived about 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Carlson Avenue site, where an apartment complex is under construction, authorities said.

A coworker operating a forklift lost sight of Torres and backed over him, police said. He attempted to render aid, but Torres died of the injuries.

The state Division of Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the death.
