A three-vehicle collison left one woman dead and injured two other women Friday afternoon, shutting down the northbound lanes of Highway 101 near Geyserville.

The driver of a blue Nissan Versa traveling south on the freeway lost control of her car and crossed over the center median and into the northbound lanes about 3 p.m., CHP Officer David deRutte said in a news release.

Heading in the wrong direction, the Nissan collided with a 2016 Honda Civic driven by Pamela Bertoli, 62, of Cloverdale, and continued out of control, colliding with the front of a 2004 Toyota Tundra driven by Rebecca Frey, 64, of Ukiah.

Arriving CHP officers were advised by Geyserville firefighters that the Nissan driver had died, deRutte said.

Frey and her passenger, Karen Zimmerman, 63, were transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where they were treated for moderate injuries, he said.

Bertoli and her passenger, Alanna Bertoli, 28, were evaluated by medics at the scene and released.

The name of the Nissan driver was withheld pending notification of relatives.

Traffic on northbound 101 was diverted to the Geyserville Avenue exit during the crash investigation. The highway was reopened about 6:15 p.m.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or may have information about it is asked to call the Santa Rosa CHP Office at 707-588-1400.
