Man arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing into two cyclists, according to CHP
A 28-year-old Santa Rosa man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs Friday morning following a crash with two cyclists, according to the CHP.
Benjamin Braunstein was traveling west in a 2014 Ford Focus on Bodega Avenue west of Pepper Road when he hit the cyclists at around 7:30 a.m., according to CHP spokesman David deRutte. Braunstein had drifted right and collided with the cyclists riding on the right shoulder, deRutte said.
The names of the cyclists were not available Friday. They were transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with moderate to minor injuries, deRutte said.
CHP officers determined Braunstein was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash, deRutte said. He was uninjured and was booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI.
