A west county teen suffered serious injuries Sunday night after jumping from a moving car in Bodega Bay, authorities said.

The 14-year-old girl was flown to Children’s Hospital Oakland with a broken leg. She’d been riding with family members when she leaped out of the car around 8:30 p.m. on Highway 1 at Eastshore Road, authorities said.

Bodega Bay firefighters found the injured teen in the roadway and started medical aid. They got her to an ambulance and then into a medical helicopter that landed at nearby Westside Regional Park.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office was investigating.
