Sonoma County Sheriff’s officials are investigating a crash involving a small glider that went down Friday afternoon near the Sonoma Skypark airstrip just south of Sonoma.

The crash occurred at about 1:15 p.m. on Eighth Street East and Knolles Road, and the pilot - the sole person aboard - suffered only minor injuries, said sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Crum.

“One person reported the pilot might have overshot the runway but that hasn’t been confirmed,” Crum said.

Photos of the accident showed a white glider crashed against a tree on the east side of Eighth Street East. Sonoma Skypark is a public-use airstrip located between Sonoma and Schell Vista.
