Man suffers fatal injuries in fall from horse

Cal Fire said the man died en route to a local hospital after falling from a horse outside of town on Saturday.|

A 60-year-old man was killed when he fell from a horse Saturday evening in a rural part of Fort Bragg in Mendocino County emergency personnel said.

The fall occurred around 7 p.m. off Simpson Lane, Cal Fire Capt. Mike Sacheli said. A REACH Air Medical Services helicopter was dispatched to try to pick up the man for quick transport to a regional hospital but was unable to land, Sacheli said.

A ground ambulance did take the man to Mendocino Coast District Hospital, but he did not survive his injuries, Sacheli said.
