Dianne Thompson, the Cotati city manager, has announced she will be leaving her position by the end of the year.

Thompson, who was appointed in 2007, said she is resigning to pursue other opportunities.

“I plan on staying involved in local government,” said Thompson who cited her work on two sales tax measures that were passed by voters, among her accomplishments. “I feel I’m leaving Cotati in a very good financial position.”

Thompson, who said she expects to assist in the transition to a new city manager, was praised by Cotati Mayor John Dell’Osso for what he called her “stable leadership”.

“This was not unexpected,” Dell’Osso said about Thompson’s decision to resign. “She will be missed. Dianne did a lot of good things for our city.”
