Drone video shows postal worker delivering mail in Santa Rosa's fire-ravaged Coffey Park neighborhood

A video showing a mail carrier delivering mail to the fire-ravaged Coffey Park neighborhood of Santa Rosa has gone viral, showing that the U.S. Postal Service isn't kidding about its unofficial motto that "neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night" keeps carriers from their work.

The truck was caught on a video posted to YouTube by a drone piloted by aerial photographer Doug Thron on Oct. 10, a day after the Tubbs fire roared through the neighborhood destroying most everything in its path.

According to a response from USPS published in the Mercury News, the carrier was just doing his job.

"This is an example of the long standing relationship that has been established between our carriers and their customers based on trust" said USPS San Francisco District Manager Noemi Luna.

"The carrier in question was honoring a request by a few customers who were let back in the fire zone to retrieve personal items. A few customers asked the carrier to leave their mail if the mailbox was still standing because they could not get to the annex to retrieve it."
