Clearlake police detectives are investigating a shooting Thursday night that left a man dying at the intersection of 2nd and Bush streets.

The incident occurred shortly before 6:40 p.m., when several residents called 911 to report gunshots and a man down on the ground near the ?3200 block of 2nd Street.

When emergency responders with the Lake County Fire Protection District arrived, they found the victim lying in the intersection. He was pronounced dead shortly after.

The victim, described only as a Hispanic male, had numerous gunshot wounds, according to a police statement. Clearlake police said they had very little information about the suspect or suspects involved. Witnesses described seeing a newer model Mercedes passenger car with a white top that may have been used in the shooting.

Police said the victim’s exact cause of death will be determined by a forensic autopsy. His identity is being withheld because of the ongoing investigation, officials said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Detective Ryan Peterson at 707-994-8251, ext. 320.
