NCS volleyball championships: Maria Carrillo falls to Redwood High

The Anderson Valley Panthers also fell in the NCS championship match in their division Saturday.|

The Maria Carrillo High School volleyball team fell to Redwood High School in the North Coast Section Division 2 playoffs by scores of 25-13, 25-15, 25-14 on Saturday night in Larkspur.

“They (Redwood) were a really good team,” Pumas coach Ally Deal said of her team’s opponents. “We played well; it was just hard to adjust to how good their offense was.”

Senior outside hitter Sally Chestnut came up big on defense, recording nine digs, while junior setter Rachel Wright finished with 17 assists.

“Sally really stepped up on the defense,” Deal said, “and we are really proud of her for that.”

The Pumas finished with an overall record of 27-9 and a perfect 14-0 in the North Bay League.

The Anderson Valley Panthers also fell in the NCS championship match, as San Francisco Waldorf High School topped them 25-7, 25-14, 25-16 Saturday night in San Francisco.

With the loss in the NCS Division 4 championship game, the Panthers finished 23-5 overall and 12-3 in the North Central League III.
