The Santa Rosa Junior College football team fell to 1-7 on the season with a 66-21 road loss to College of San Mateo on Saturday.

Coming off their first win of the season last week against Diablo Valley College, the Bear Cubs kicked off the scoring in Saturday’s game with a 56-yard touchdown pass from Fort Bragg product Kaylor Sullivan to Matt Hyman early in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs answered with a touchdown of their own two minutes later - a 10-yard run by Cameron Taylor.

That started a string of four consecutive first-quarter toucdown runs by San Mateo (8-1).

SRJC’s Sullivan added another touchdown throw - a 4-yard pass to Greaden Monahan-Sharpe - in the second quarter, but it wasn’t enough to catch the Bulldogs, who led 38-13 at the half.

Zach Hugh scored a touchdown on a 7-yard run for SRJC in the third quarter and the team also added a safety.
