Man found dead off Highway 101 near border of Sonoma, Mendocino counties

Investigators are still determining the cause of death, authorities said.|

Authorities said foul play is not suspected in the death of a man found Tuesday morning off Highway 101 near the border of Sonoma and Mendocino counties.

Hopland Fire Protection District personnel received a report of an unresponsive man about 7:15 a.m. and located the body on the south shoulder of the highway near the Geysers Road offramp north of Cloverdale, Fire Chief Mitch Franklin said.

Franklin did not provide any further details regarding the man, who will be identified by the Sheriff’s Office after family is notified.

Investigators are still determining the cause of death, CHP-Ukiah said in a news release.

The Sheriff’s Office was not immediately available for comment.
