New CEO at Santa Rosa’s Poppy Bank

A longtime local banker is stepping down as CEO of Santa Rosa’s Poppy Bank.|

A longtime local banker is stepping down as CEO of Santa Rosa's Poppy Bank, formerly First Community Bank.

Deborah Meekins, 64, a bank executive in the city for over a quarter century, “will be leaving the bank to take some time off,” according to a press release issued Monday.

Poppy's new CEO will be Khalid Acheckzai, formerly the bank's executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer.

Acheckzai joined Poppy in 2015 and has more than of 20 years of experience in the banking industry.

The bank opened its first branch in 2005. Meekins became president and CEO there in 2012 after more than two decades leading the former Sonoma National Bank.
