Nightbeats: The Wailers bring classic reggae to Sonoma

From reggae to indie pop, here are three concerts to put on your calendar.|

THREE LITTLE FISH: The Wailers have taken many forms throughout the years. Whether you know them from the first pressing of “The Wailing Wailers,” or their work in Bob Marley & The Wailers, the group's musical legacy extends far past one era.

Forming in Jamaica, the band became a legend after Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer created the first wave of the band's musical lineup. Since then, the lineup seems to be ever changing but the spirit and liveliness of the band has flourished and continued to thrive since the early '60s.

Songs like “Three Little Birds” still hold the test of time and remind you not to stress about little things because, much like the band's lineup, things work out in the end, even through deaths and new generations.

Surviving the decades and engaging a whole new group of music lovers, the wonderful thing about The Wailers is the band's history of rising from the ashes. Each reincarnation holds true to the “One Love” message of spreading joy at each turn.

Make sure to catch the reggae band when they stop by Sonoma's Reel Fish Shop & Grill and chow down on the catch of the day while you're at it.

Details: 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, The Reel Fish Shop & Grill, 401 Grove St., Sonoma. $45-$75. Thereelfishshop.com

HUG ME, BROTHER! For me, nothing brings back childhood nostalgia quite like old TV shows. If you too were a child in the early 2000s, chances are you probably spent time watching kids shows on Nickelodeon and of course one of the most popular shows on the channel was Drake & Josh, starring Drake Bell and Josh Peck. If remembering the pair of scheming siblings who celebrated getting out of sticky situations with a loud cheer of “hug me brother” makes you want to listen to the theme song, you're in luck.

This month, Drake Bell, the “Found a Way” singer, is stopping by the Mystic Theatre in Petaluma after shifting from acting on kids shows to work on music.

With three studio albums and a few EPs under his belt, Bell has a large repertoire of music to fill a set list, and while it's uncertain if he'll play “Found a Way,” there's a pretty good chance you'll hear a new Drake and Josh collaboration. His latest release, “Call Me When You're Lonely,” featuring Lil Mama and Twenty One Pilots drummer Josh Dun, should fill your Drake & Josh wishes for the night.

Details: 8:30 p.m. Friday, , Sept. 14, Mystic Theatre & Music Hall, 23 Petaluma Blvd. North, Petaluma. $15-$35. Mystictheatre.com

CALL FOR A SECOND CHANCE DANCE: Sounding like the love child between folk rock and indie pop, Milky Chance makes you dance to catchy tunes while holding down substantial lyrics.

After earning mainstream success with their viral hit “Stolen Dance,” the German group went from bedroom music and laptop recordings to playing worldwide concerts.

The reason is simple, their music is the type you have stuck in your head for hours on end. Their first album, “Sadnecessary,” earned the band a place on regular radio rotation with not only “Stolen Dance” but hits like “Flashed Junk Mind” and the flow-up, “Blossom” featured just as many catchy tunes, including “Cocoon.”

With a repertoire of hit songs, it's no surprise the band's upcoming concert in Napa went quickly. Though tickets are sold out now, you can still sign up to get ticket alerts on Ticketmaster and call the box office the day of the show in case any tickets became available.

Details: 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, JaM Cellars Ballroom at Margrit Mondavi Theatre, 1030 Main St., Napa. Sold out. jamcellarsballroom.com
