OAKLAND— Authorities are looking for the suspects who threw fireworks from a car and started several small grass fires along a Northern California freeway.

The California Highway Patrol says witnesses saw a car with four men throwing fireworks out of a window while traveling along Interstate 580 in Oakland shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday.

Traffic delays ensued as fire crews put out about half a dozen small fires underneath the freeway between the Park and Fruitvale avenue exits by about noon.

Authorities say no injuries were reported and no buildings or other structures were threatened or damaged.

Oakland Fire Battalion Chief Greg Hunter says the incident is considered a felony. Hunter is asking for the public's help with providing any information about the vehicle in question and possible suspects.
