Santa Rosa police arrested a burglary suspect late Sunday night and are looking for a possible accomplice stemming from a break-in at a west Santa Rosa restaurant.

Officers were called to the China Garden on Stony Point Road at about 11:20 p.m. after a security guard called to say he’d seen two males force open the restaurant’s front door and then run out carrying a cash register, Santa Rosa Sgt. John Cregan said Monday.

Arriving officers spotted one man running from the area. The security guard identified the man as the person seen carrying the register out of the restaurant, and officers arrested James Peralta, 18, on suspicion of commercial burglary.

They also found a cash register close to where they’d stopped Peralta. The register still had money inside, Cregan said.

A second male wearing a green-hooded sweatshirt and light-colored pants got away.

Peralta was booked into the Sonoma County Jail. Bail was set at $10,000.
