Windows smashed at Santa Rosa businesses

Police are investigating a series of apparent burglaries early Monday.|

Someone was out early Monday, smashing windows and apparently burglarizing Santa Rosa businesses.

Santa Rosa police were called between 5 and 6 a.m. to a handful of businesses with reports of similar crimes, Santa Rosa Sgt. Lisa Banayat said.

Initial reports indicated at least three restaurants and an ice cream shop had broken windows.

At one scene, officers found a cash register thrown onto the floor.

What, if anything, was taken from the businesses remained under investigation Monday.
